Default Newbie questions ??

Hello - this may sound retarded to most of you, but i'm looking for a few brief answers to the following.......

1. What is a flashed modem - in other words, what are the benefits of owning one, what can it achieve that a regular modem can't?

2. My Virgin Broadband Cable internet is slow, gets throttled regularly and my download speeds are pathetic. Will having a flashed modem change this?

3. Is it illegal and if so what are the chances of getting caught?

Hope you can help folks - i've googled for hours on the subject but cant seem to get any definitive answers.

Many thanks
MF4

1 - A flashed modem is a clone modem and the benefits are you dont have to pay!

2 - Yes, you can upto 20mb, which is really 10mb.

3 - Yes it is illegal, will not get caught unless you mess with your subded box, or they come round to your house.

Thanks for the reply.

Can your connection still get throttled due to high usage, with a flashed modem?

Also important, dont forget to spoof your nic mac (use smac) address if you have been using this with a subbed modem, they will see it.
