Default Patching or updating my Technomate 5400

I am a newbie to this and need some help in trying to update/patch a TM5400.

My understanding is that i need a Loader and a Patch to upgrade the reciever.
Appreciate if someone can give a step by step idiot proof guide on how i do this. Will loader for TM1500 or TM1000 suffice?

I do have a USB flash drive but not sure if i need a null cable. Appreciate any help as i want to get more from this great receiver.

Thanks in advance.

The TM5400 can be done with a USB flash drive, I couldn't tell you how as I have the 1000 series without the USB.

The 5400 can also be done with a the loader and the null-modem cable, there is a sticky in the Technomate section on how to do it, step by step.

Vaguely remembering some of the other posts regarding the 5400, you should be able to just stick the USB flash drive in, and then transfer the patch using an on-screen menu, the patch must be unzipped first.

The very first patch does need to be by cable, this is often done by the retailer.

You download the patch, extract the file from the archive and put it on the flash drive. Insert the flash drive into the receiver and press the USB button on the remote, select data transfer, then select the patch file and press OK.
