Hi, Glad to be of help, Yes you can set up the time to do this you need to do the following :-
"Menu" Then "setup" then "System then "Timezone" then select your timezone and press the Green button to save, As you know all new types of systems now set the time automatically from GMT and what you need to do is select the "zone" you are in ie how many hours more than GMT or how many hours less than GMT this is the zone, I think this should sort you out, you will of course need to change this when "summer time" ends etc to either add or minus 1 hour either way, I have noticed that there is a timezone for Bangkok which according to the unit is Gmt + 7 hours, so all this should be Ok and the date is set automatically by the satellite via the actually channels available at that date and time, ie you cant see or set your recorder to record something that was broadcast 1 hour ago, I think that maybe something else was wrong with the recording problem because the times etc are taken from the "epg" of the programme. Now re the strength on the actual search page, I dont know of one with the actual strength meter on the search page because what the 7025 does is automatically find the strongest position and then just searches the actual transponder channels, If you follow what I described in the reply you will find that everything you need will be found and saved to your system automatically by the 7025 at the best signal strength possible.

Great Les and am sure you are 100 % correct but where is the time in your box actually coming from ?
I bet you from the datastream of Sky or some other European satellite. But what if some Asian satellites do not have the time in their datastream ? Is this not the reason why the 7020 gives one a choice in the menu of the time one sets oneself and the time from the satellite. ? Perhaps because they know some satellites outside Europe do not put GMT on their datastream ? In the UK , even in Argos, you can buy watches and clocks that adjust the time automatically over the air. But take the same clock to Asia and it has no way to adjust itself, has it. Any thoughts ? |

When you actually reboot your sat decoder what time is displayed on the screen of the STB ?
and do you actually have channel epg's in Asia ? I have no experience of this location so where this is concerned I do not know, as far as I can remember and having tried most other images ie PLI, E*, Dreamforum, SCVS, I am not aware of any of these images that you have the facility to actually SET the time manually on the 7025, I am in Greece and mostly use Hotbird, Astra 1, Astra 2 here there are others but of course I get my time etc from these main ones so the time is already set before I move sats. The way I am thinking is this, when you switch your decoder on lets say it sets your time at 12:00 midday and you set your box for GMT = 0 you can then adjust your time via the zones, ie if it is say 4pm set a zone at GMT + 4 this will then adjust your time, you can also set the timer manually so let us assume your STB is 1200 (Midday) and the actual time is 1630 you know then that the time is - 4hrs 30 mins so you need to adjust your recording time to suit, I know this is a pain but I cannot think of anything else to help, What you could do is say your STB when started does go to 1200 hrs you could wait till that time to start your STB because then it will use its own system to keep the correct time. I can think of a few things that could go wrong that way but at least it is something to work on, I have just had a look at other images and they all use Enigma and this must be the place that has to do with time etc cos they all appear the same so as I said I do not know of another image that lets you set the actual time on the 7025. Just one other thing, I dont know why you cannot get help in Asia because I actually purchased my 7025 from Thailand by post, and what actually surprised me is that it is a genuine one and not a cheap imitation, But I am not meaning that no-one else can help or that I wont if I can, its just that I dont know the Asian sats or in fact anything about that area.

Hi Les...you are right...reboots at correct time so clearly the problem is the date which is crucial on a timer. I have had the box say its 1970 or even 1968 ! One can conclude therefore that the date setting and not the time is the problem. On the 7020 one can adjust and set the date ..but not on the 7025 !!
By the way could you tell me the name of the dealer selling this in Thailand . It could only be Alan Reeks who runs a small outfit in Phuket sometimes called Eldsat sometimes Phuket Satellite. As you can guess he is an Englishmam ! Regards. |

Just a thought, Have you initialised your HDD cos if you havnt it wont record at all, To test if it will record, select a channel to watch then press the red button and when it asks you if you want to record press yes, the STB screen should then be flashing and this means the system is recording.
If the unit is getting the time it is also getting the date, the problem there may have been when you couldnt get the sat channels correctly. but it should be ok now

Will check out the hdd as you suggest but is there anywhere on the box where it gives the date so I can make sure it's correct ?
Yes Eldsat is run by Alan Reeks, a very famous Englishman in the sat world. Please look him up as he posts daily on the RDI forum and is extremely well known. His shop is in Phuket so his username is Phuketsatellite . Please note the spelling as he has a clone with two "T"s and one "L" ! [His actual name is often mentioned and known to all so not breaking forum rules] |

I was wondering myself about the date and yes thinking about it there is, if you select timer from the main menu then press the green button to add a manual timer the date will be there, it always defaults to todays date .
