Default Lidl Satelite Receiver..

Hi,

I bought the lidl satelite receiver sl65. i have connected up everything as i have been told to in the instructions and im holding the satelite to the south/ south east angle that they tell you to. although i am not getting any signals or picture at all. i have been reading other posts but i have not found anyone with the same problem. I have placed the satelite in many different areas that are clear and free from obstructions although still no pictures or signal.

if anyone could shed a light on this i would be very grateful as im new to the whole satelite thing....I have a euro-vox box and im thinking that i should have just got another one o those instead.

Do you have a sat finder [meter]? It can be a slow process finding a satellite at first, when your completely new to this. Turn the dish very slowly when searching, and also, you have to adjust the dish up and down as well as east to west. A minute touch of the dish is a few degrees, so dont just swing it about hopeing to find a satellite, take your time.

You need to line up the dish very precisely to the satellite you want.
One way to start off is to make sure the dish is attached to a vertical pole and then set the elevation of the dish correctly using the scale on the back of the dish and then slowly swing the dish around until you get a signal. You can use the receiver's built in signal quality meter to do this. If you don't find a signal, adjust the dish elevation slighly and repeat the process until you do get a signal, then adjust the position both azimuth and elevation for maximum quality.

The dish elevation can be found here:- Satellite Dish Pointer / Alignment Calculator with Google Maps

just enter your loaction and the satellite you are after.

I alos bought one of these for my caravan 3 years ago and its great but this year I've been having problems with signal quality and missing channels, some I've managed to get back. The weather hasn't been good when I've been up so the signal problem may improve, may need to tweak the dish a little.

Cheers

The sl65 or the sl65/12 has a built in sat meter that peeps louder when you lock onto the satellite therefore allowing acurate alignment.
