Default Auto update Satellite.xml

I just bought a dreambox 500s after running a topfiled for a few months. THis certainly is a complicated little rascal to understand how it works!..

Anyway the satellite.xml doesnt have all the sats in it that I require, and my attempts to edit this have not been succesful. I have downloaded and tried both Dreamset and dreamboxedit however seem to be having problems getting the Satellite.xml file correct.

I see that there are some plugins that autoupdate satellite.xml from lyngsat howver they are all quite old versions. are they out of date, or is there a newer method to do this?

Any help appreciated with this.

Cheers

Kiwiandy, you can install new satellite.xml files but it is very easy to get one that does not cover the sats that you want. The best way is to open a satellites.xml file using an internet browser to check and make sure it has the sats you want before installing it.

You can actually ad or remove transponders directly via the Dreambox setup panel. Having added or altered a transponder just do a single transponder scan and any new channels found will be added to your channel lists.

From there you can add those channels to any favourite channel bouquets that you might have set up.

I loaded the 'Captain Picards setting' which gave me ready made bouquets for all the satellites and channels from 70E to 70W satellite list. I removed all the radio services to conserve space on the box

Awesome,.. that is exactly what I need

Although there are still a few transponders missing, but I can probably enter them manually... much easier than trying to enter everything!

So as there was no response to my original question... I assume autosatXML plugin is no longer compatible with the latest images? As just downloading from Lyngsat, would appear to be the easiete way to do this?

As I said I am new to the dreambox STB.. and find everything is much more complicated than on my old Toppy... especially to do the basics like adding transponders etc..but I guess that is the price you pay for all the flexibility of this machine?
