I gotta be stupid. I have read how to set it up but something gone wrong.

I am in France in Provence try to get satelite.
tried ,but failed... I have a 900 mm dish a FORTEC STAB
HH MOTOR MOUNT from Maplin
Model: HH90I read the manual 50 times but can't get the system to line up on a satellite!!
The dish starts off plumb.
The motor is set to 38 deg (I am near Marsellies in France)/
I set the receiver to the correct long / lat .... the motor moves.
NOTHING.
Can someone point me towards the idiots guide?
Am trying to get SKY ?

There are two pivot points.?? One on the dish bracket and one on the Motor bracket.. I think.
The dish bracket should be set square ( plumb) to the pole (0 deg) (same line as the pole holding it). Yes??
And the motor bracket should be set at the elevation for the area.?? Yes??
Everything should be pointing dead South. ?? yes.

OK where did I go wrong??

Welcome to Techwatch.

In your motor instruction manual, there should be an elevation angle for the motor, and then a dish angle or declination angle to set the dish to - depending on your latitude. The declination/dish angle will vary depending on the make of your motor.

as I understand it, if for example your lat is 43N (Marseille) then I think you should have:-

37.6 -(45-43) = 35.6

This is the angle that your dish bracket should be set to. If you have it at zero then you are far too low.
