Hi, I'm new to this forum but I can see that everyone on here at the moment has is experiencing a common problem which may or may not be related to the problem which my father is now experiencing.
I bought the Eurovox Max V3 for him sometime in 2006 and have never updated the firmware. Basically, he rang me early yesterday evening saying that he cant watch TV becasue the codes are updating, I told him I was busy but I'd be round in a few hours. Before I went round, I looked around on the Internet, found this forum and the solution, installed the Bigmaq toolbar, jotted down the info i needed and headed over to his house. When I arrived, the message on his TV (from the eurovox) read "Channel Currently Not Available" on every channel - there was no message about codes at all. I proceeded to follow the instructions which I had jotted down but still had the same "Channel Currently Not Available" message I am 99.9% certain that my my old man has done something during the "please wait while codes are being updated" fiasco that I am sure you are all familiar with by now. When I asked my old man what he did prior to my arrival, he told me that he didn't do anything - but knowing him, he got impatient and started messing about with technology that he clearly does not understand. I have tried to power scan for channels (using all of the correct data - I'm not a total newb) but I am not having any luck, i.e. "Channel Currently Not Available" Any advice would be more than appreciated because my old man is doing my head in now. If it helps, I am in the South Wales area. Thanks for reading, and thanks in advance for any advice, Owen |

That error is definately no channels on the box ie no frequencies stored.
did you delete all the existing data before doing the power scan? Does the power scan get anything..check the cable connections and you have set the correct symbol rate. |

After scanning again this morning, everything seems to be fine but I've got a feeling the box is on its last legs. PM me if anyone needs assistance getting things sorted in Wales.

A few came to me with this prob owen and far as I can tell (without anyone admitting it) it was caused by people doing a scan before updating the key

That wouldn't surprise me one bit, as I said was 99.9% certain that my old man had done something - now I'm 100% convinced that he did. Anyway, he has the Discovery channels back now so he's happy as Larry.
I've always said it "Old men and technology don't mix" |

Powerscanning the box before the manual key change causes all channels to be lost. If the keys are updated first, the box does comes on instantly and does not need to be scanned.

Hi I have the same problems that Owen had but not by my old man. I came home and saw the code being updated thing and did a scan a pwer scan and nothing.
Get new code from Bigmag and put the code (NTL, C&W Telwe) and still cannot see anything. Do I do a power scan after inputing the new code? Please help as desperate to get it running again. Am in Bexleyheath if this help. Thanks |
