Hi all,
I stumbled upon this website yesterday looking for help on a Eurovox box and I was very pleased to have found a forum that deals specifically with Cable Modems. I have looked into this before but gave up as I could find very little info. From what I can gather, my best bet would be to purchase a Motorola SB4100 modem - I don't think it is necessary for me to state why I want one! So basically, I was wondering if anyone can give me some advice on what I need to do to achieve the obvious result. I have a degree in an IT discipline so I am familiar with some of the software that I may have to use and have a fair idea of what needs to be done but I am just after a bit of clarity on this sensitive subject. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading. ps - i have found out that my area is pure ntl Last edited by owenEQ; 09-04-08 at 09:26 AM. |

Hey owenEQ i bought a modem in about october and have been pleased with what i bought. I got a Motorola SB5101E. The "E" meaning tht it can be used all over the UK as it is the Eurodocsis i think.
When i bought mine it came with all the required info for setting it up. Just neeeded to obtain a MAC address from a friend in an other area. I get 20mb broadband, there was a few hick ups with setting it up but ull get there. Luckily you dont need to do programming or anything. Hope this helps abit |

download and read the haynes cable modem guide, this is the best way to start to understand how it all comes together.
