Hey guys just got my "the box" out of its box and am trying to flash it. I'm having a few problems with this. I went down to my local maplin and purchased a usb to serial (because I have a laptop) and a serial cable. I set up my serial port as described and tried to update the firmware. I thought maybe the serial cable was the wrong one and changed it for a null modem cable. when I try to flash the firmware now I get "flash failed" and when I click on the cancel box it switches my box back on again so I take it that its working somehow.
Can anyone help me what version of firmware do I need to flash onto my box is it 4.54? is there something I am doing wrong? I followed the tutorial that is posted on this forum when trying to flash as well. Are their any cases of the box not being able to be flashed with new firmware? |

check what firmware you have on the box already as this can determine the firmware you need to flash it to. If you have an early firmware then you may need to flash to the next version then the next until you get to 4.54 you may also need to flash the image file too. i also know that some usb to serials wont work although i cant confirm this as i only use serial. check out satdownloads dot co dot uk when the site is back up as it seems to be down. i'v seen similar posts there that may resolve your issue.

You will get more help if you put your post in the Dbox section.
