Default Server overload in progress

As regular members have probably noticed, the Techwatch forums are suffering problems due to the heavy load the huge influx of cable users are causing.

Techwatch is running on a powerful server, but in an attempt to help reduce the stress on the server I'm going to try moving some of the other sites onto another server.

Hopefully that's going to help, but I've got the sys admins at the datacenter keeping a continuous eye on the server and hopefully we'll be able to mostly keep on top of this issue.

Yep - loads of the major cable boxes went screwy after a code update on Sunday - we had over 35,000 people visit TW yesterday trying to find a fix.

Yep - the server went offline for a few minutes, but it's a beefy server and has been seriously optimised to cope with the traffic.

I'm running another big forum on the server, but will be moving that away to another one tomorrow to free up resources for Techwatch, so that the chances of even a few minutes offline should be further reduced.

first post here guys, site is excellent btw, big thanks to brian and who-ever else runs the site.. i was one of the 35,000 (i admit) who crashed the site yesterday (sorry guys). i am fairly new to the "cable box" scene and was just wondering how often do the eurovox boxes need the new codes ? got the bigmaq toolbar to sort me out, but how often do new codes get rolled out. thanks in advance for any help.

well the answer from what i have heard from the other threads is that the bmaq toolbar changes its codes everyday i think from what i have heard at total different times i think this is what ive heard but you can check yourself with other members to see how often the codes get changed i think its everyday that the bmaq toolbar changed its codes but i can also be every few hours or so if you have a look at where the latest codes are held and keep checking then you wil probably find out its probably every few hours or everyday but just check anyway
