Default Whilst we wait for a firmware update..I hope..

As it seams that the cable providers are now rolling the codes with increasing regularity I was just wondering if anyone knows how the legit boxes provided by our cable providers actually cope with these constant changes and why our Eurovox's cant cope.. ?

Is it just a simple firmware issue or is there something else in the Legit box's that allow them to constantly keep on top of the codes rolling several times a day.. or do the cable providers keep updating the software on the legit boxes at the some time as they roll out the new codes... ?

Also if it is software related cant some clever person just lift the software from a legit box change it a little and then upload it to a Eurovox to see if it takes the new constantly rolling codes without the need for us to manually type in the codes everytime they roll...?

Just wondering how they work really..

Its in the cards of the legit boxes not the boxes themselves.

According to industry analyst Ian Waller, “The change is causing false keys to be recorded on a ROM7 update, usually only 1 or 2 characters are wrong, this has been happening on ROM10 and ROM11 updates for the last year. A genuine card can handle the change, an emulator (eurovox being an emulator) can not.”

Is it much hassle installing firmware? Never done it before.
Cheers

so therfore, would it not be possible, to clone the firmware out of an original box, ....ie the regonition sequence the card needs to operate, put the hacked data in, then simply pop the card into the eurovox?......that is if eurovox has a card slot.........i not ventured that far near my box LOL

New user here, just want to thank all involved for providing the info needed for the temporary fix. Sanity is restored.

I suppose its just a case of sitting tight now hoping for a new firmware fix. I have a max v and a max 2(possibly 3) i think. I'm wondering, will the update be for all models of the eurovox's, or just the new max v?

I know my max 2 will be fine, but worried my max v is a clone. Suppose I'll find out soon, hopefully.

How do you find out if Your box is a "clone" and how does/will that effect firmware updates etc ?

If your box is a clone it will more than likely brick it when you try to update
