Well at the moment I dont want to update anything but people are saying there is gonna be a new firmware update so we dont have to keep putting in a new code every 5 hours. I have a Eurovox MAX V box and was just wondering how I would update it.

Updating your firmware today won 't fix the key issue, you will have to wait until new firmware comes out. For the person who wanted to know what cable you need it is an rs232 cable with a female connection on both ends. If you don't have a com port on your computer then you will need a usb adapter.

yeah hook it upto your pc and drop the update onto the box. All the required s/w is available on the interwebz. And the instructions too.

Same question here, from what I understand you just hook the box up to the PC via null modem cable, and install the new firmware as the box is picked up. There's a detailed guide posted a few posts up.

As far as I know that's all there is to it?

Thats correct.

Download the firmware in question.
Connect your PC/Laptop to the box via a Null Modem Cable, you may need a USB to serial adaptor. Your PC does not alert you to devices on the serial port.
Click 'download' on the firmware update program and away it goes.

I got my adaptor from maplin's, for when im using my laptop at work. My PC already has a serial port. Works great with either config.
