Smile Curious - Star view box calculates 99.9% of new keys automatically.

Ok I need one of you smart software guys who knows the Eurovox max box software to explain this to me if they can please.
I don’t need to go over the current picture, everyone knows that the keys are being changed daily, i.e keys 0 and 1 changed on alternate cycles. At least here in the midlands with t*****t
Now my brother has a star view box, when it goes off as a result of a key change. He re-scanned the channels. When it came back up and he looked at the keys – one of the keys had been altered from the last one he entered off the BIGMAQ toolbar to something new!
Last night when I gave him the new key 00 he realised the star view box had already calculated the new key bar one digit!!!!!
The last but one digit was one below what it should be (if the toolbar said it was 9 the box had calculated 8)
Too prove he wasn’t seeing things when the keys we were changed this morning, rather than wait for the new keys on BIGMAQ we looked at the key data for 01 and added one to the last but one digit.
Amazingly it worked!!!
I took the key and added it to my Eurovox bax and that worked as well, so within 5 minutes of the key change we had the new key and the channels back!! Even before the new keys were on BIGMAQ
Then I read this article about providers changing one digit and realised why the starview box could be doing what it is .....
http://www.techwatch.co.uk/2008/04/09/virgin-code-update-cripples-cable-boxes/
There must be other starview boxes out there that are doing the same thing?
It might be a simple case of people not realising it!
Can Eurovox boxes be made do the same thing ??
Hope it helps others.

The Kryptview, Starview 2 and Box Super all have firmware updates to overcome this new encryption

great then. after all if the other two boxes can emulate the keys then i guess VM is not using a rocket science method.
well, cant wait for the Eurovox update!
