Default intro, possible tricky question

hi all, quick intro (my name is ste), and possibly a tricky question. atfer all then trouble with the eurovox boxes (and others) i have heard that the cable companies are sending out a signal to all existing customers the original cable box sends a signal back to verify that it is the original cable box that is being used, but the eurovox box(and other boxes) dont. therefore the cable provider can tell if these boxes are being used. can anyone verify this. Thanks.

talk back is a connection which enables all the virgin/ntl/tw boxed to send the signal back to the server informing them that they are alive and other information. All the legitimate box should talk to the server otherwise it will create alert for VM in the same way all illegal box should not send info about there location and presence .
more info is in the guide.
