Default TM 1600 2CI Super

Can someone please explain to a newcomer why i have what looks like an open slot for a cam and above that a plastic insert which i assume is the size of a viewing card?
Is this "plastic cover" removable and can i insert just a card in there?
If so, is this what they call an embedded cam?
When i first bought the box i thought 2CI meant i could install 2 cams & cards.
Have patched with Darkman/Magic but now looking how to open up more channels via cams/cards.In anticipation, thank you.

You have not got a card slot, you have a blanking plate.

I have the TM1000D, but now I have a card reader, making it a TM1000D+

I removed the blanking plate and purchased a card reader separately. It just plugs into the main board and needs screwing down.

As you have the 2CI, I suspect that the CAM slot you have is a double one, so two CAMs could be slotted in one above the other.

Assuming that the 1600 is currently as well supported as the rest of the 1000 series, there is no real benefit of a CAM. Although the Diablo and TRex accept a Sky card apparently, but don't provide card updates.

THe card slot is necessary for an official subscription like DigitAlb for example
