You can buy them in most PC shops, maplins, fleabay and lincsats nick-nack shop (at the bottom of this forum).

It is a NULL MODEM cable or an rs232 NULL MODEM cable and there is a picture on the first post of this thread showing what the plugs at each end look like

Soldering jobbie for you

You still need that cable though if you are going to update the firmware on your boxes.

You have to be specific about the cable having to be a NULL MODEM cable (it is wired differently to a standard rs232 cable which would not work for you)

The broken box won't repond until you have replace the blown capacitor.

A standard rs232 serial cable (or straight thru) cable will not work for you connecting a pc to these boxes as the internal wiring on the cable is not compatible for the connection.

You must use an rs232 NULL MODEM cable (the internal wiring is different to a straight thru cable). If you are using a serial to USB adapter then your connection will be Eurovox > NULL MODEM cable > serial to USB adapter > PC

Yes you will get a 'waiting for response' message. That is a specific as the message gets and covers anything from invalid port no., incorrect rs232 cable etc.
