Kerrywez,
I have just joined the forum 5minutes ago as I wanted to learn about the Dreambox. I have joined many forums and they are fantastic places to learn from. The thread of wackojacko99 wrote in my opinion was fair and does not warrant your frustration and writing he and others posting silly questions. His thread clearly stated he was a newbie and simply asked a question. What exactly ws wrong with that.......in fact nothing. It would be better to point him (and maybe later me) as to where to go and read then learn. Were any of your threads 'Silly' because you didn't know where to look? Unfortunately not all of us are as smart as others and we need to ask and seek information. Usually on all other forums people are only too pleased to assist, despite the same questions keep being posted, that's just how forums are. It would be better you not stress yourself and just don't reply. Please show me some patients when I ask dumb questions, because I am quite dumb. |

If you were going to buy a new car would you not just think that one seems good, I will go buy one of those, no you would go and find out as much as you can about it before you bought it, not depend on others to provide you with all the answers. A dreambox is a great piece of kit, but if you do not have the patients to work with it it will be of no use to you and you will be selling it in no time, at a great loss. I hope you enjoy your time here and find out all you need to know, if there were some serious questions then I would try to help, but I will not answer questions which can be seen answered on this forum. If someone who is considering buying a dreambox does not have the get up and go to search for things on forums then I have to say that their time with a dreambox will be very short. Regards Wez

The first thing to remember about any linux box is that the satellite versions are not a magic box that gives you all the channels for free.
You need access to a subscription. Unless you are fully committed to spending every spare hour you have for about 3 months learning how it works "under the bonnet" dont even think of buying any linux box. You certainly dont take one of these babies out of the box and get it fully up and running in a couple of hours. They are high end enthusiasts boxes only suitable for folks who like tinkering with their sat kit. If you want to take a receiver out of the box, plug it in and watch telly with the family then please please buy a Sky digibox....... If you are willing to put the time in and dont expect too much of it in the first months then buy a DB & join the forum members who have one of these wonderful boxes. Theres plenty of help available BUT we wont hold your hand and do all the work for you.
