im new and a dummy,
can you please tell me if this Eurovox box i have, which is roughly two years old, is a blue box or red box?

You can update it using the blue firmware but it renders your remote useless i believe. So you will need to buy the max remote (dont quote me on that tho)

It is not the blue but you can use the blue firmware. i think yours is eurovox 1 or 2

for example, is it worth buying a newer box or a remote?

Yeah i think the new max remote works once you have updated using the blue firmware but not sure, if you know any one with a max remote try theres to see, then buy one off ebay roughly £10. i duno if they will bring a firmware out for the older box, you could hang tight a few week to see and keep entering the codes manually or try the blue firmware and get new remote

i think i will try the blue firmware on my busted old box,
now comes the question that will prove my complete lack of knowledge...

Once i download the firmware, do i just plug my laptop into my box using the rs232? will it automatically upload?
