Sony NW-HD5 20GB

Heavy machine but truly awesome using ATRAC encoding format. Impressed with all aspects of this player and especially the 30 hours battery life from the rechargeable battery.

Had it 3 years, used almost most days and has never let me down. If there's a drawback, I have so many songs on it (circa 12,000) it can be difficult to organise especially if the song 'tags' are not 100% correct.

All in all though, a great bit of kit.

Don't hear any difference between ATRAC and mp3 ripped at high settings. I like minidisks though for their design and how sturdy they are. Sonic Stage was pain in butt so I gave up on them.

Using Creative ZEN Vision M at present. It is an awesome player , I used it every single day since I got it 2 years ago, also: it was dropped several times and it works fine, solid player. It is relatively big for today's standards though so I might get a flash player for Xmas.

(Santa, you old fool, do you hear me?)

Hi,
I have a creative Nomad. It's brilliant for sound quality. I use it to record digital radio programs in wav form, transfer the file to my pc to edit and then write the end result to a cd. (So I guess I don't really use it as an mp3 player but as a wav player.)
My daughter has an Ipod and I couldn't believe how crap the sound quality was with it.
My first player/recorder was an Archos Jukebox. This too was good quality.

There is so much out there that is superior to Ipods. Just listen!

I've had 2 Creatives, The wifes one, a Zen V, broke after two weeks ( kept freezing and reset button wouldn't work ). The other is the 30gb Vision M. After 3 months the screen became corrupt and unreadable even after being kept in the protective case inside a pocket. Creative say that its been dropped although it hasn't. They're not going to replace it even though its been well looked after, not been dropped etc.
I would never touch Creative mp3 players again. Cheap and cheerful for me next time so when its breaks it's not such a big deal.

Birds got me an Archos 705 for Christmas, want it mainly for the video/web browsing over the MP3 stuff though.
