Update, i pulled red jumper set the pin and local freq. prog the fun for local net id, inserted it, it booted on please wait then displayed tune on box. I unplugged box booted with standby pressed and entered 1111 as advised, got errs and lait for a minute box then switched and back on again on its own first showing telepest broadband page the suprisingly the VM page and then the epg came on with channel details and went strait on to channel 0 showing the hatton fight ppv screen. I left it on there for 2 minutes then f*ing thing changed back to the blue update screen and the box displaying tune? What the hells that about? I tried it again and changed the channels with no picture showing up, got ITV2 which came and went as if signal was weak? I tried to reboot in eng menu to see if net id had changed but box just went strait to update screen and again displaying tune on box?!! What the hells going on, 1 step forward and then 2 steps back AAAAHHHHH!

Try holding up and down button from the box while powering up, this should boot up the box.

Hi, guys I am thinking of using this as a spare box for my ex C&W area as I am having no luck locking it in for the telepest area! Can I ask if this Di1000T telepest broadband be suitable for a ex C&W area? Can I just change the freq and net ID and that will be it? Otherwise if anyone is from the west midlands or area where they know this telepest box will work and wants to buy it from me then let me know. Cheers!

I have manage to finally get the box to boot up with the ‘VM powering up screen’ each time its booted now but I do not receive any channels? Just a blank screen with the epg bar showing the correct time and program that’s on, only channel 859 comes on (channel 5 audio) a few of the adult advert / preview channels and a couple of the VM channel not available yet channels i.e PPV. I can now boot into the eng menu and can confirm correct net id has been set for the area, card status ok, however the boot up detail page that records all the details on the box status did state tuning parameters corrupt? Furthermore on the first 2 pages of the lock status screen the first page shows the green 'locked' but the second (MSCN) page shows a red 'unlocked', also the ffice:smarttags" />SNR numbers are very low compared to the recommended 30 and above mark as per the engineers manual?! So can this be the reason for my missing channels? BBC1,2 and ITV is blank, channel 4 in black but splurts out an audio now and again like its not tuned in to channel? Other box I’ve looked at both the lock pages show the green locked status so I’m guessing this has to be issue on the this Di1000T box?! Can it be the tuner? However it does look un-tampered with and I have yet to do T/B on it? Help needed guys as this one really is going beyond a challenge!!! Need the experts on this 1!!!fficeffice" />>>

Stuck in tune can be solved using the same process whatever the box wherever you are, based on a process of elimination.

1) Pull red jumper / short battery (depending on model), reboot, reset netID (if outside PURE areas). Try it.

2) Try a different box on the feed to eliminate actual signal problems. Repeat 1) with second box optionally.

3) Resolder the connection between the female screw in f-type connector and the boxes mainboard / CIM (depending on model).

4) If the box has a seperate CIM module (eg 4001), try substituting with a known good unit.

5) Check the voltages on the tuner pins inside the box, either using a diagram (eg dalmatian's guide for 4001 boxes), or by comparing to a known good box. Missing / low voltages are usually caused by shorted surface mount capacitors on the board, which can be removed / replaced.

6) By far the most likely cure (with 4001 models at least): Replace the electrolytic capacitors on the board around the tuners / CIM. Chances they've dried up and lost capacity, causing signal ripple / noise.

This process can be used to repair boxes with poor signal (channels missing / jumping, poor signal quality and SNR in eng menu) as well as those stuck in tune.

IME 90% of electronics faults have failed capacitors as the root cause. Caps go bad, it's just what they do. Think of it as a rechargeable battery that's been used to death.
