Eurovox latest software - Techwatch: Satellite TV forums, FTA, Cable, Hardware, & Tech forums

Hi Chaps,
I thank goodness for the internet, what a top site this is I have just updated the latest software Kurov3 10-04-08 and all seems to be good so far, I only wish that I had saved my channels as in one of the posts here by some techy, I will make a note for future reference.

One quick question, I have not got an RS232 on my laptop and I would like to put the update sofwtare on my laptop but I only have USB and firewire connections on is there any NUll cables that you can get that have RS232 on one end for the eurovox and USB on the other, second question would yuo be able to run up the update progam and the box detect the cable is linked via usb an update ok? This would save me taking the back cover off the TV stand undoing all teh cable ties and unplugging it taking it downstairs pluuging it all up to my desktop! I know that it should not happen again for some time but you never know, appoligies if this is already posted somewhere .

thanks, and this community of expert advice is just what i needed, stops me getting it in the head when the mrs cant get to watch her fave channels when it says code updating for hours on end.. hopefully wont have that prob until i need to update again,

The answers are yes and yes.

You will need to purchase a usb adapter to connect your laptop to your cable though.

Yes it is on offer 12.99 from 19.99 i bought one today and they do the trick. Are also compatible with vista.

Maplin > USB to Serial 9-Pin Male Adaptor

Can buy online or instore.

They are cheap on fleabay but you might have to wait a while on delivery.
