hi guys, ive just heard from a friend that there have been 400 arrests due to raids in bolton for cable boxes, has anybody heard anything, is it true?

I doubt it, the boxes aren't illegal and can be bought and sold freely.

If it is true then it will be all over the news. A raid of that scale is usually done as a publicity exercise.

Yes they are one of those grey areas. The are perfectly legal to sell, buy and own. They only become illegal the second you connect it to the cable network.

There was a report in the MEN two weeks ago saying that one bloke was caught with a stocking full of boxes in the Manc area,(think he does the sat/sun markets if you know where they are).

But to my knowledge it`s not illegal to buy or sell them,so wait and see time.

There was a guy who supplied them at markets that was sentanced not long ago. IIRC he wasn't sentanced for supplying the box but for offering to fit them.

they become illegal when the modified firmware is put on (kuro) and it is connected to a service provider
