Question "waiting for the response of your receiver"

I've read the tutorials and Ronster and r.bate's guide to flashing my Eurovox blue. Now i'm stuck.

I got a null modem cable going from computer to genuine Blue Eurovox box,i am trying to download the firmware but it kept flickering between com1 and com3.
I went into device manager and moved a device which was in port 3 to port 5 freeing up ports 1-4 for downloading firmware. That problem solved.

When I try to upload my channels first, nothing happens.I then try and download new FW and i get "waiting for the response of your receiver".
I have tried on all 4 ports, but it does not seem to recognise Eurovox.

Am I doing something wrong,is the new cable i got this morning from Map***s possibly faulty?

Any advice much appreciated.

Had the same problem m8 when using a USB converter(possibly drivers issue).

Used a computer in college today with 9 pin null cable only and had absolutely no problem. Job done in 5 minutes.

It's very frustrating.

My next step is possibly buy a USB to serial cable and join that to my Null Modem cable and try through a USB port on my other pc.

A NULL MODEM cable is wired differently to a standard serial cable and this is probable the cause of your problems.

Personally I bought a Serial PCI card for my PC way back as had spent 4 weeks trying to get my USB adaptor to work. I believe, don't quote me if I'm wrong, you can buy a rs232 to USB null modem cable.

I had the same problem on my laptop until I changed the ports around in the device manager. I just freed up the one it wanted and it worked! Might help yours!

Oh yeah! Forgot that bit, your box might be connected to the wrong port so check and change em first as replica said

I've tried it on all 4 ports.

I bought a Null Modum(reverse)wired especially for this,do you think the Serial RS232 (straight) wired would work,is there a big difference between them?

You com port does not have a female connection, you probably have your moniter connected via a graphics card and the other port you see may be your onboard graphics port. Take the useless cable back to maplins as they have a good returns policy. I sounds as if you don't have a com port so you may have to buy a usb adapter.
