Default Technomate 5400

Hi, I have recently bought the above receiver and have several questions about it

1 Do I need a programmable CAM to receive encrypted channels or is the receiver "Patchable" and if so how do I do it.

2 If I must buy a CAM is it possible to buy a short extention lead so that the CAM doesn't stick out of the front of the box.

3 It says in the book that it is conax embedded, what does that do?

4 If I get a steerable dish where does the power for the dish come from as there is only one socket on the back?

5 If I cant drive a dish without an extra cable ( I have a an old sky minidish and cable installed) can I get three LNB's on the same dish, I thought a 78cms Triax would do, and somehow get all three down one cable via a diseq ?switch, whatever that is?

6 What is the "Common Interface for?

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi,
Yes the TM5400 is patchable, the first time round it needs to be done with a null modem cable, like the TM1000 series-

Patching your Technomate 1000 series

After that, it can be done with USB flash memory:-

So a CAM is not necessary.

Conax embedded means you can stick an official Conax card into the card slot and it will work, DigitAlb for example.

If you get a DiSEqC motor, the power for it goes up the coaxial cable, the motor fits in the line to the LNB. Else you can use a 36V motor with a V-box, which is powered separately.

The Common Interface (CI) is for a CAM.
