1: get software on your pc. (flashfxp) in the download section.

2: hook up your dbox to your router - switch or directly to your pc via a cross over cable. you will have to assign a static ip for both systems for it to connect if using this method.

3: setup your dbox network options to have an ip address similar to that of your network, ie 192.168.1.5 or 192.168.0.5, if your stuck you can check your network setup in vista buy pressing (start) in the text box type run, press enter

in the small dialog box type in "cmd" without the quotes, in the black console window type in "ipconfig /all" again with out the quotes..this will produce your network ip

once you have all this sorted..
open up flash fxp click the lightning bolt on the right side..
go to quick connect input your box ip, username, password,
normaly uname: root pass: dbox2

that should give you access to your box...

Angry Re: Dbox/Dreambox proper fix released

This still doesn't seem to work for my Sagem DBox 2. I've ftped across the the key files separately and have now copied across the whole directory. I've rebooted and gone to an encrypted channel but still nothing. In the past it has taken about 20 seconds to find the new keys but after 20 minutes or more I still have a blank screen.

I've even tried rescanning the channels. All are picked up but it just will not pick up the keys.

Anybody any ideas?

try re-flashing your image.. with the new cableferret image...
and using the new magic files it will work..

Download - (from private fta)
1: Image flashing assistant,
2: CableFerret v1.6 image
3: magic_files.rar

Flash
1: open up flash Assistant
2: select image (CableFerret)
3: select network port - using no null modem lead.
4: press start....
5: unplug box from wall - plug in again
6: on your box LCD it should read FLASHING...
7: leave it like that till it reads FLASHING DONE...
8: unplug the box - go to your pc click ok on the flash Ass or it will reflash your box when plugged back in.
9: plug in your box and start up..
10: setup location info network info.etc..
11: connect via flash fxp copy over magic files.
12: do a scan

bobs your uncle and thats you..

First of all, download the files Lincsat posted (magic files) i.e. a keys folder.

The contents of this folder is what you'll need to transfer over to the DBox2.

Now, hook up your PC to your DBox via a network cable.

Then, assign your DBox (and if you need to, your PC) some IP settings.

I chose the following, but you don't have to go for these values:

192.168.0.6 PC
192.168.0.7 Dbox

192.168.0.1 Gateway
192.168.0.2 DNS

You assign your DBox network values by going to DBox, then settings, then Network. If DHCP is off, then you can set the IP values.

On your computer, you effectively set-up TCP/IP properties (normal PC stuff).

All you have to do then is use an FTP client (almost any will do) to copy the files accross.

Restart the DBox2, and you're there!.

Many thanks guys

I have 2 boxes, 1 sagen running an 05 sporster image the others a nokia running a commando image.

The Sagem box running sporster works fine with just the new magic files uploaded as per instructions although I cant seem to be able to rescan the channels (doosnt really matter as they all seem to be there and working).

The commando image on the sporster box wont work with just the new magic files. I am guessing that needs a new image putting on ?

My pc dosnt have a serial port but I have a usb / serial cable adpater. Can they be used for flashing ? or is there a guide somewhere I can follow ? Help greatly appreciated !

Have you got a router. YOu could use the cable from that and hook your pc and dbox together. The usb/serial cable may possibly work too.
