Right so I can reflash the image using the ftp link over ethernet ? I thought I might have to use a serial cable.... The dbox is connected to the network via a router. I can ftp to both boxes no problem thats how I uploaded the new files to get the sagem box working.
From what I understand I just ftp new image to temp file directory on dbox (dir name tmp ??) then on the dbox goto dbox menu > services > update image > write one partion > no bootloader ,select the image I uploaded to tmp from the list and verify I want to update. The dbox box will then update and restart ???? I have not done it before though so worried about wrecking my box ! Also in the guide I found it talks about using an image suitable for "your area" and "perform your scan using your provider". Will the ferret image work in my area ? I currently get the fta channels on the box that isnt working and all epg etc works fine just no the ppv channels.... Last edited by alera; 13-04-08 at 04:03 PM. |

Any image will work in any area. Basically back up your services and bouquets files first before flashing. After installing new image then copy them back over. Save you scanning and organising the channels later. After installing the image (if you do go with the ferret) then copy the contents of the magic keys into your /var/keys folder.

Many thanks, so those instructions are right then ?
Which folders do I need to backup before flashing the box (or files that contain the bouquets etc)? I went into the dbox2 through webbrowser and saved services.xml bouquets.xml neutrino.conf Are these the ones I need to backup ? The img file seems quite big at 7.5 meg I just stick that in the tmp folder then and install from the dbox menus ? Will that cable ferret image work on the Nokia dbox 2 ? Yes the instructions are right.
I only usually backup the services and bouquets. Not sure if you need to bother with the neutrino but no harm done. Images are usually around 7meg so thats about right. I believe the ferret image will work but make sure you get the right one. ie x1 for 1chip and x2 for 2 chip variety. Refer to the Dbox for dummies guide for explanation on finding which you have. Avaialble in the download area. Once you have flashed the new image. Ftp over the backed up files and also copy in the magic files contents into your keys folder |

Thank you very much
I actually just got the sagem box working again just by uploading the magic key files then changing the cam. It just went off again on skysports 1 but then came back on again..Anyway both boxes are currently working again.... I need to find out if my sagem box is 1 chip or 2... will check that guide just downloaded them. Almost there and for future updates I will be able to do everything pretty much I think and help others. Top site and very helpful members. Much appreciated.. I know exactly how you feel phil.
![]() I'm getting more and more confused the more I read. At the mo I have the freeview channels & the epg & channel lists are fine - but still unsure how to get it working again. Please will someone explain how to access the downloads bit? Im sure it's not just me who can't find it! Also this cableferret image with the fix, is it a 2x image? |
