Default how to install software??? pls help

ok. i know you guys ave heard this many times before. i have searched the forums but still cant find anything.
i basically want to know what applications, cables, i need to update my dbox with the latest update?,,
also a step by step guide how to install this?.. i do consider myself as a geek in this area but need a tutorial.
any help will be apriciated..

within your menu there will be a backup partition option.. normaly under -
dobx menu ->service->

once this is done ftp into the temp folder were it will save it..
and copy it to your pc..

prob around 8mb size...

keep it safe... but prob wont need it again.

do i need to download an application on my PC (windows vista) and can i connect y laptop to the dbox via a ethernet cable (crossover cable)

hallenburg's Image Flashing Assistant is a very good application to use for flashing images onto your dbox.
