Dbox is finally fixed with a new rom……………..


STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO INSTALL YOUR NEW ROM FOR YOUR DBOX……………….

Please download the bigmaq Toolbar - Download toolbar and install it on your
computer Some computers require a reboot after installation.

After the toolbar is installed please select the following:

Update/fixes then select dbox fixes then press au fix 8/4/2008.

Download your new dbox rom to get your dbox to work correctly with keys,

Please save the downloaded rom and then unzip the file to a folder you will
remember for later use within this tutorial.

Now we need to setup the dbox to use ftp easily via your existing rj45 network
cable.

1.Get your dbox remote in your hand press dbox.
2.Select the settings menu press ok.
3.Select network then press ok.
4.Change ip address to 192.168.0.100
5.Change subnet mask to 255.255.255.0
6.change default gateway to 192.168.0.1
7.Save all setting press the home button.


Now plug your rj45 networking lead into the back off the dbox.
Some off you might not have a rj45 lead spare, So use the one that the routers got
plugged into.
It the lead that plugs into your current computer network card to the broadband box.

Now we need to setup your computer to talk to the dbox via ftp

On your computer press the following (windows only)

1.Press Start
2.Press my network places
3.Press view network connections
4.Highlight local area connection.
5.Right click select properties.
6.Scroll down to tcp/ip
7.press enter.
8.Select the use the following ip.
9.Enter ip address 192.168.0.105
10.Enter subnet mask 255.255.255.0
11. Enter default gateway 192.168.0.1

Press ok shuts the window then press ok again shuts all network windows.

Now open your computer browser.

Enter in the browser ftp://192.168.0.100

Your be asked for a username and a password
Username is root
Password is dbox

Go into a folder called key or keys.
Your see a file called the same name as the file we downloaded earlier.

Leave the browser window open to copy the new file you got on your pc to the key folder on the dbox.

So go to the folder you placed the file that we unzipped earlier
Copy the file and then go back to the browser and past the file in the folder of key or keys.

The computer will tell you that your going to overwrite a file press ok.

Now reboot the dbox and that it all solved.

No more entering keys all day long.

if you got files.....

nagraepr10.bin
nagraepr7.bin

use both new files

nagrarom7.bin
nagrarom10.bin

you also might have a third file called

nagraepr11.bin add also new file nararom11.bin if you got it....

what is a 550 error mean?

Question/Problem: I keep receiving an error message: "550 permission denied or 550 accesses denied". What does this mean?

Answer/Solution: The 550 error is a message from the server stating that the account you have currently logged in as does not have permission to perform the action you are attempting. You may be trying to upload to the wrong directory or trying to delete a file.

Here is an example of when someone would receive this message:
John logs into ftp.ipswitch.com and goes to the directory /Ipswitch/Product_Downloads
In this directory John sees a list of files for users to download. If John selects a file from his local system and tries to upload it to this directory he will receive the 550 permission denied message because he does not have rights to upload to this directory. John has read and list permissions only. In order to upload John needs write permission. He could contact the system administrator to ask for write permission on the server.

This problem can also be caused by a firewall with a "no ftp write" permission set.


To solve this it easy but only if your getting 505 error, it file permission problem............

do the following before my tutorial......

1. Press blue button....
2. Select tuxbox commander....
3. on the left hand side select the very first > / < forward slash press ok.
4. Scroll down list to root press ok.
5. Scroll down list highlight keys or key press 1
6. Now set the file permission to read green and write green and execute green save.

That it now you got full permission to ftp in..........

no more 505 error...............

also make sure that root has the correct file permissions...............

That should work, there are lots of IP settings that should work as well.

Don't forget that you need a CROSSOVER ethernet cable if connecting the box directly to your PC. You can also use a proper FTP program like FlashFXP.

There are a few different passwords in use, for the d-box, try dbox, dbox2, commando (or the image name in use). For the Dreambox, try dreambox


Remember that the boxes are Linux based and linux is case sensitive.

If you continue to get problams with the way i have used the ftp process
then use flashxp here a tutoral from another user...........

mushtak 2917 flashxp tutoral

1. site name ftp://192.168.0.100/
2. ip address 192.168.0.100 (same as site name)
3. click apply
4. then connect (making sure your box is connected to the computer)
5. guide your right hand window to the keys folder(in your dreambox)
6. in the left window to your 3 rom(.bin files) and highlight them
7. click on the transfer selected icon and then over write the files in the right hand window. and its done

if your flashing your box read this please it inportant...............

FLASH OR WRITE ONE PARTION
FLASH WITHOUT BOOTLOADER THIS IS IMPORTANT
DO NOT POWER OFF THE BOX AFTER you FTP image into the tmp folder of the box

I don't think that your method will work, you appear to have the IP addresses not compatible with the Netmask - there are great tutorials available from the Private FTA download links.

I got one quistion only a quick one very confused, I read the tutoral a member done on funcard 4, How to program the card, is it true that if i get the ird off a box, And load the required .bin file for that box area, On the card then the box will see do everythink i got on a dbox but throw there box throw that new card.......

If your talking about the rom files then there are only two files. Copy either or both into your keys folder.
