Have you tried Dreamup for the 500s.When useing Dreamup have only the Null modem cable connected and just the 12 volt power supply.Remove all other cables then use Dreamup and do a errase two or three times then load another Type of image."it" may work.

Do NOT have the power supply connected to the Dreambox until Dreamup tells you to connect it.

Using dreamup won't work, i tried it on a friends box this afternoon

The timebomb that Gemini put in their image has wiped out the receivers bootloader so your receiver is deader than flares and brown courdory trousers

The only way back now is to jtag it

I'm fortunate i haven't got my Eagle box out of its packing yet so this hasn't affected me. If it would have been a few days earlier i may have had a bricked box now

is this problem confined to just the db500??

i have db7000s and i use gemini 4.3 at the moment
jimdefruit says he will keep away from gemini
notice that he has the same equipment as me
would it be better for me to try other images if so which is the best
i have a 128meg usb stick

Hi abr. See you are sensible and put your dish near the ground. The current problems appear to be limited to the 500 boxes.

Regarding your 7000s, You should be using a solid image on flash. I recommend the EDG perfect flash dual boot image and dont put any emus or plugins on it. That image just stays there and is not used so that the bootup does not get corrupted. Then add images on your usb stick using flashwizard. I can recommend the latest DS images, the EDG Nemesis image and the Sif image. There are plenty of others but its a personal choice.

Install just one image on usb and set it up just the way you want it with all the satellites and channels installed. Once you are happy with that image, add one or more extra images and make sure the smart copy settings box is ticked in Flashwizard and the new image will be ready to run straight away with your settings all installed.

Not completely true if you have an AV amp and digital sound because for some reason the AC3 sound selection does not appear to be included but that is easily remedied via the setup.

Provided you dont play with the flash image, you can add and delete images on the usb stick to try them out without causing any problems. It is great fun trying out new images knowing that you can just reboot into your favourite image if it all goes wrong.

according to fwpro i have DM7000 FlashImage (2.6.9)
in flash.
i have not changed this image for a long time.
i do have a few images on usb
atthe moment i am using gemini 4.3

i have my dreambox working on the network by using a linksys WET11
so the upgrading i do is through the network

but remember reading somewhere that if i alter the image in flash i should use dreamup with a cable from pc to dreambox and not through network. thats how i did it last time.

You can use Flashwizard to change the image on flash. The only problem is that if the network connection is disturbed during the transfer, you will have to use Dreamup to install a flash image.

If the flash image you have is working ok then stick with it.
