Downloading cams Dreambox 500s

Hi Guys. Thought I was doing well but I need your help again. I have Gemini 4.3.1 loaded and my connection to my PC is ok. I now want to download Cccam and MGcamd straight from the server, but when I go to blue panel, then addons, then download (gemini server). I get 20% download of catalogue then this message Can't resolve hostname! (URL:http://download.blue-panel.com/el-ad...r=0431&typ=500). Your help would be really appreciated.

Sounds like you may have a cloned box mate

Gemini 4.3 stops all clone boxes from downloading from the blue button, that may be the problem

Other than that it could just be a problem on there end. Leave it a few hours and try again

If not you will need to look for the Gemini patch for cloned DM500s You will more than likely find it over on Alsat

I bought the 500s as an original from a Dream Multimedia distributor. But now you've got me worried. How do I tell the difference? Mine's got the security holograms and the right packaging, and everything defaults in German.

Dont worry philjo, Gemini did get it wrong and some genuine boxes are being blocked by their software. If in doubt you can ftp the emu .tar.gz files into /tmp and then do a manual install. If you can find it, the patch does overcome the problem.

I have a clone DM500 from China and ran Gemini 4.3.1 and the addons without any problems, I only switched over to the Pli because gemini was crashing my CCcam. You may want to check your network settings for the gate way etc.

May i add check the memory as the 500 is a bit short on memory and to load the basic things to keep you going.Also if it has a 12 volt 1 amp power supply upgrade to a 12 volt 2 amp power supply.

With the Gemini image I could load two cams because it was a maxvar image but now that i have switched over to the Pli image I can only load one cam. I use the captains sttings and I found that if removed the all the bouquets that my dish cannot get acces to than it left me with a bit of extra room. As slpa220 says maybe you have run out of room in the var so it keeps carshing out at 20%, try removeing one of the cams if have more than once loaded to see if that makes any difference.

Hi Giuys, Finally got the cams loaded manually. Everything seemed fine until last nightwhen I switched the box on. In large letters across the screen it read "This box is a clone please contact your dealer. Adios amigo" and the box crashed and will not reboot at all. I have been on to the dealer this morning and the Trading Standards Office as this was bought in good faith as an original Dreambox. In the meantime has anybody got any comments or fixes for this problem. I think I should have stuck to the Technomate.

There are reports of this on the forums, I think it's a virus from the gemini team.
From what I've read you will need to JTag the box to get it working again, this means taking it apart and accessing the motherboard.
As you bought the box as an original Dreambox I'd get your supplier to replace it.

I dont think the Gemini Team have thought this through very carefully. It has been reported that Gemini are acting on behalf of DMM to break the clone companies. However, I can see a few Gemini images for the other dreamboxes being corrupted by hackers and reissued to get back at The Gemini Team. I for one will stay clear of Gemini for the future.
