Default Aaaaargh...dish elevation angles

Right, for Thor I know my elevation setting needs to be 28.6 degrees. However, my dish elevation settings seems ludicrously complicated.

I bought a 85cm dish and motor set. The dish's elevation setting bracket seems to be determined by where you put one bolt. There are three different holes A, B, C.

There wasn't an instruction book with the dish, just a small piece of paper with diagrams on it. no help.

However, it does have a table with the following:

EL85 (my dish)
A 0 15
B 9 52
C 48 87

The above numbers are degrees (couldn't find the symbol on keyboard!).

I'm guessing that these numbers are a minimum and maximum so therefore, if I need an elevation of 28 degrees then I would put the bolt in hole B.

Does this seem a feasible explanation????

Thanks.

Almost all dishes have a bracket on the back that enables you to swivel the elevation of the dish in small as well as large increments.

Firstly, what dish is it, in case anyone has one like it? and secondly, please post a picture of the bracket, as it is very difficult to understand what you mean without it.

Not sure of the type or make of dish. Sorry. Bought it as a package on Ebay. I've, hopefully, attached the instructions!

Ok, it makes perfect sense now, if you want an elevation of between the values in the B box, put the bolts where I have indicated below and you will be able to adjust it over the range of 9 to 52 degrees

It depends what is marked on it.

If it is marked 'elevation' set it to 90-latitude.

If marked 'latitude', set it to latitude.

Ok. Gonna fix sat tomorrow. Can I just check one thing. According to the instructions for the motor it has inside,a table that tells me the elevation on the dish should be 39 degrees. However,I went on Satsig (I think) andit tells me that the elevation on the dish for Thor 1W is 28 degrees. As that is the target sat I need to aim for does that seem about right?????????

Ta.

Hi,
Assuming that you have read the table correctly, 39 would be the correct value.
This because once the motor is mounted, the bit that the dish mounts onto is not vertical, it must be leaning forwards by approx 10 degrees. This is thus added to the dish elevation. The dish itself should end up pointed with an elevation of 28 degrees, even though the bracket on the back says 39.
