Default Big Problem No Channel

ok i bought a eurovox max v from ebay (preloaded) and it worked until a month later i phoned up my friend and he has a virgin media box and his programs are not coming up apart from the basic freeveiw channels (bbc1 bbc2....) so how can i bring all my channels back (cartoonnetwork sky movies...)
i tried deleting all channels and then returning into factory default and then a power scan full when that didn't work i tried doing that in normal no result
so how can i bring my channels back (new firmware? if so plz post where to get from i live in luton)

Yes, you need the new firmware

Google the 'bigMAQ toolbar' and install it. This has an icon Updates/Fixes - download the most uptodate file for your box

look here for instructions on upgrading the firmware on the box

The question that has to be asked is are you a Virgin media subscriber ? because if not any thing you get down the cable feed is in the lap of the Gods so to speak ....i read somewhere on the net that the reason Virg scrambled the keys was to stop the freeloaders who dont subscribe at all, whether that is true or not I do not know ....incidentally there is nothing freeview about the BBC programmes, what about the licence fee we have to pay

How would this stop the freeloaders though if they can just update their boxes with new firmware or change their keys??
Or is it just to get rid of the few non tech ones??
