did you make sure you put the cap in the right way
no 16v should be ok
check other caps for bulging or leakage

I did put it in the right way, had a bit of an electronics guru helping me do it.

That was the funny thing. I didn't see any leakage or bulging on the c11 cap.

I might go through the rest of them later to see if there are any other little cap scamps that are not behaving as they should be..

Again Martin. Thanks for all your help on this. Would be great to get this working. It will give me a great sense of achievement.. haha !

One other thing. When Im looking at the other caps, should I just stick to the side PCB board, the one that I was working on yesterday or should I also look on the board that homes the CPU ?

:-)

Hi, have a genuine starview box! And I was having problems very like that of above. picture freezing(sound still okay, continuous turning off and back on. completely going off. green screens. 0 or 9 on the display. I’ve put up with this for ages but got much worse, actually found if I stood the box on its display it worked considerable better! maybe lasting 20 min instead of 2!

anyway just came across this forum and saw that circuit board pic up there, so opened up my box.
C11 looks fine but c21 looks to have been leaking from the mid section??? And was stuck to U2! Brown coloured leakage or was that glue???? Anyway I broke them apart while investigating.
Anyway I got no idea about any of this and was wondering if ya's could give an advice about what steps i should take.
I do have a friend who I could get to solder, if that needs be!!! Or should I just try replacing c21 and u2.

Cheers

Thank you all for putting these instructions up! I tried it out and well first tests have been successfull. c21 was leaking but as advised i replaced c11 aswell. (could 211 have caused the problem in c21? just woundering?). Went into Maplin, spent ages waiting to be served, spent 85c each on them - was worried cause they looked nothing like the ones on the circut board but seems all good.
