Default Starview Clone - Intermittent Problems

Folks,

I was given a clone starview that had never worked over a year. i.e. when I plugged it in, I got an "on" light and then it would just die..

With all the recent events of the last few weeks, I came across the 2.57e_E firmware and decicded to lash it on to see if it fixed it.

Guess what. It "seemed" to.. Basically the flash worked, and I was able to auto-scan for channels. I then inputted lastest keys and the channels came on.

My problem from here is sometimes it stays on for a hour, other times for just a few seconds, then the box gives up and I'm left with a single digit on the display.. Sometimes the digit 0, other times the digit 9.

If I turn the box off/on the same thing happens, sometimes I get and hour other times a few seconds.

Has anyone see this type of behaviour before ? and if so is there a simple fix to it without having to j-tag.. J-tagging is something I am not able to do..

Cheers..

TIA !

Haha... It is working, because I'm getting the channels.. Its just really frustrating that I can't seem to find anyone else who has had/is having the same problem as me..

It will be better than nothing..

yes follow my diagram
1 power off remove c21
2 power back up you will here the board hum wait while it says on
3 turn back of
4 replace c11
5 replace c21 (the existing)
6 done
just make sure you put the caps in the right way theres a + and _
it does say on my photo c11 10v most of them are but when i did mine it was a 16v
if your is a 16v you can get one from maplins 50p
hope this helps

Martin.

Some bad news. Followed your instructions to the letter. Removed c21. Powered up, got the humming noise. Powered off, replaced c11 with a 1000mic @ 16v instead of 10v as this is what was on the original cap.

Powered up, fine for 15mins then 0 on display again ?

Should I have used a 1000mic @ 10v instead of 16v ?

Any help is appreciated.
