Hi,
Looking to expand the tv network and was wondering if anyone knows whether you can run 2/3 dbox's simultaneuously off the same incoming feed i.e. using a cable amp/splitter ? Seem to remember the last time i looked at this, that multiple subscription was still required from the provider ? Any advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Dezzer .

Simple answer: yes you can as long as signal coming in is good, and cabling to boxes is good.
Just remeber to change IP adresses if you network them aswell. TIP: use a three or four way splitter from the incoming signal, rather than multidropping two way splitters. i.e. each box is only seperated from the incoming signal by one splitter. |

Just tried running my chipped dbox and a standard subbed pace box simulataneuously off a 2 way split connector.
Only 1 or the other works at same time though ? Dezzer. |

You can run as many boxes as the signal is good for, but each box you attach reduces the "power" of the signal.
If the signal coming into your house is crap, then you may or may not be able to run any boxes. If it is good then you may be able to run two or three, I have succesfully run more than three at various times, along with cable modem. The flip side is that the signal may be too strong and you need attenuators in line if you only run one or two boxes. |

So, how would i go about getting attenuators to see if it is the signal being too strong ?
Can you get them from Maplins for instance, and are they any particular spec ? |

I got my attenuators by chatting up one of the cable installers, when he was doing a job in the street a few years ago.
Though you may have a strong signal now, in a week you may have a lower power signal, with more subscribers off your green distribution box. I found links in google be searing "f-type attenuators". You only generally need 3db and 6db, bearing in mind you can put them together. |
