Can i update my firmware with windows vista as the operating system ??

The only time vista seems to impact on the update is if you are using an rs232 to USB adapter for your NULL MODEM cable - works for some not for others.

If you are not using an adapter then shouldn't be any problems.

Aint it bad enough having Vista on your PC, let alone wanting to put it on your Digibox

But like said above ok, if your using serial to serial, can be a pain usb to serial though.

As I said works for some but not for others. I think its down to the driver thats installed for the adapter

I got my Usb to serial from Maplins and it came with a disc with the drivers Included.

Well ended up I didnt even use the disc as when I plugged the cable in Vista found the needed driver itself and installed them.

I use Vista (pile of sh*t) with a USB to Serial lead on my Laptop and also use a straight serial lead on my XP Pro Desktop (good OS but soon to be made history).

Providing you have the latest USB driver for the USB to Serial lead then all should be OK, but as has been said above many have fallen trying to get them to work.

I used Vista with a USB to serial adapter and had no problems at all, I used the Vista drivers that were installed by the operating system. It looks like there is not much of a problem with Vista as people think. It is genarally not as good as XP though.

I have read about Microsoft putting out a new operating system out in 2009/10 as even they think Vista is Crap. (Remember Windows ME)

Hi,
I am about to try again with Vista tried network cable but will try serial dont like Vista

pc kept hanging on startup and finally gutted the machine re installed and the put service pack 1 on seems to have solved probblem so will try again
