It would help a great deal if you would post the make and model of your receiver that you intend to patch.
Have you checked the forum, for any sticky threads, in your receivers section as these usually contain answers to most questions.

Hi, have a look at the Sticky in the Technomate section.

Patching your Technomate 1000 series

You need the loader-runs on your PC

The patch- this gets downloaded to the receiver using the loader.

A softcam file- possibly

Why is softcam file needed ? Do I need channel lists ? do I need key file ?

Also do I need to back anything up ?

The softcam file is the key file. It is optional I believe to load this, as most packages are AU. But it doesn't harm to load it anyway, as I think it organises the slots properly, so the patch knows where to look.

It is advisable to back up the channel list before proceeding. I can't ever be bothered personally, I take the chance.
