Hi mate,
Do you know that you do not need to pay for Sly + anymore? Just saying as it would make sense to get a + box, but you will need to have a Quad LNB installed on your dish. The Sly + boxes can be bought from Ebay for quite a good price. Just thought I would let you know what you can have.

Very best regards Wez

Avoid Thompson boxes - they are notorious for power supply failures thanks to poor quality capacitors in the psu Some fail in as little as 18 months.

Personally I wouldnt touch an amstrad with a 40' bargepole, but some folk swear by them

Personally Id spend a bit more and get a sky+ box - I think ours was 140 quid when our old Grundig GDS3000 expired last summer (cap failure...)

Hi mate,

I bought a pani sly plus box at £149.00 with free 4 quad lnb 2 years ago. Takes 10 mins to change lnb and then run new cable. Best thing since sliced bread. On the other hand you can buy repair kits for the sky box's. When I used to mess fixing tv's ect when I went to my supplier I noticed kits for the sat box's available. I you want any contact details just shout. Not everyones idea of fun though.

I have several Thomson boxes and have them for years and never had a problem with them. My Sky+ is a Thomson and has always been reliable. My pace box's have also been good.

I want to know who the original OP was?

Not naming any names but I think Wez might have made a boo boo here.

Hi Robbo,
I had merged the two posts, his and mine and then thought that he would get a better reply if I moved the thread to the right forum, Jim is the OP. Sorry for the confusion caused, I should have thought to move the thread before I replied to it, when I merged them they got all mixed up.

Very best regards Wez

I thought it was normal for Kerry People to reply to themselves, my neighbour from Kerry often does.

We members did note the post, but too afraid to comment
