Ok now you follow these instructions

Ronsters Guide To Flashing Box For Newbies

Be certain your cable is a NULL MODEM cable not a standard one
Make sure your box not a clone (theres info and pictures all over the place here to help)
And back-up your channel data before updating the firmware
