Finding Dbox

Hello

I have a dbox that has recently gone off like the rest of them
I haven’t tried any of the fixes yet but my question was is it possible for the cable company or the police to find out that you are using the dbox even if you don’t have an account with the cable company?
i know that there own box's send a talk back signal so if its not plugged in that when they get suspicious but is it possible for them to find out if a signal is being used at a property?
Any help would be appreciated as I don’t want to fix it then find I’m going to get slapped with a fine!!

The only way the cable company is going to find out is if they actually see the box in use.

Just make sure if you do split any of their wiring you do it inside the property as splitting can sometimes add noise back on to the system if its a crap job.

If the noise gets too bad and it starts to affect the broadband service the cable companies have been known to do spot check for splitters etc etc etc that shouldn't be their in the omni boxes outside your property

Other than that its very unlikely that they will ever find out
