I'm in the same boat as you, but I do know why mine's dead. I'm not sure of which box version I have (I just got it given by a loval tv & vac shop owner as it was in the way and I'm new to D-Boxes), but the copper heatsink wrapped around a part with 3 pins has, to put it lightly, detonated, leaving the box completely dead.

The guy at the shop didn't repair it as he said it would cost more than the box was worth, but I thought I'd at least have a go just to see if I could fix it myself. What he told me was that the customer (who left it with him over a year ago!!!) said that the box died in a flash of light and a loud bang, personally I think it might have been lightning, but it could just be component failure (I'm no expert!!!). I'll attach a picture of the scorched area (It's no shadow, it's scorching!!!), so this could be something for you to look at too just incase you have the same problem.

Looking at it though, the PSU area is identical to my Nokia 9800S and last time I looked the 9800S was very similar internally to my 9850T, so there's a few options to look at for spares, but I need to take off the heatsink and the blown part to find out what I need to get to replace it, aswell as find out if anything else has blown in the process.
