I'm in the same boat as you, but I do know why mine's dead. I'm not sure of which box version I have (I just got it given by a loval tv & vac shop owner as it was in the way and I'm new to D-Boxes), but the copper heatsink wrapped around a part with 3 pins has, to put it lightly, detonated, leaving the box completely dead.
![]() The guy at the shop didn't repair it as he said it would cost more than the box was worth, but I thought I'd at least have a go just to see if I could fix it myself. What he told me was that the customer (who left it with him over a year ago!!!) said that the box died in a flash of light and a loud bang, personally I think it might have been lightning, but it could just be component failure (I'm no expert!!!). I'll attach a picture of the scorched area (It's no shadow, it's scorching!!!), so this could be something for you to look at too just incase you have the same problem. ![]() Looking at it though, the PSU area is identical to my Nokia 9800S and last time I looked the 9800S was very similar internally to my 9850T, so there's a few options to look at for spares, but I need to take off the heatsink and the blown part to find out what I need to get to replace it, aswell as find out if anything else has blown in the process. ![]() |
