hi

i just purchased a eurovox max v 2008, tried updating it with the new Kuro frimware for the key roll fix using laptop via usb to rs232 adapter , using null modem cable ,

but pc wont recognise the box , so cant flash

tried changing com ports (1-4) as suggested , also checked emm status on box .. both set to ON. also tried a change of leads with a mates set .. but still no JOY

any help fellas.. wud be much appreciated

Have u installed the usb to rs323 cable/adapter mines came with a cd

also when i changed the com ports they where already in use but i just selected it anyway and it worked fine

installed drivers that came with cd , ( XCS driver usb to rs232 cd )
also tried changing com ports to ports that were already in use or not is use but still no joy,
also tried looking for updated drivers ..
im using windows xp sp2 media centre edition
this thing is driving me barmy

Same problems here, just dosnt recognize box. Tried changing com ports to no avail, oh well back to freeview !

Which software are you using to recognise the box? Windoze won't do it on its own.

just using windows, everything unzipped and there to update!

tried using voxer and also dnupman MFC

driver instaled shows up as prolific usb to serial Com port in device manager

Does your m8 have a box - you could try this Copy 1 box to another

mine worked smashing today m8 on xp media sp2
i am sure i was reading some place that guys have had issues using laptops...and vista, this dont matter in your case,

do you know anyone with a stand alone pc?
cant you bung software onto a zip drive and try that?

The only other thing i can think of that may help you would be to make sure its a null modem cable and not just a serial cable as from what i have picked up on some other threads is that the null modem cable and the standard serial cable are wired differently,
