Hi
Is it possible to transfer all the data on one box to another. All data including firmware, cdf, frequencies etc.

Don't ya just hate this ....

Yes you can do this but both boxes have to be the same model ie. black to black, red to red etc. The how-to was posted only recently but I can't find it (some threads have been deleted and I hope this wasn't one of them). Your main box is connected to the tv as normal and box 2 is powered up, in standby and connected to your main box via the rs232 NULL MODEM cable.

This is the bit I'm hazy on.... go to Menu/Config and press yellow button.... or maybe it was Menu/Config/Installation and yellow button. The yellow button will display another screen whereby you can follow the instructions to download.

I know I'm not giving you a definitive answer but hopefully it will prompt whoever posted it before to post again or may jog someone elses memory or give you somewhere to start from yourself

you will need another box the same, ie, red-box to red-box

connect the boxes together with the null cable,
then on the good box go to system/propertys where it shows you the software loaded and info
and type 1968 to bring up 2 hidden options,

1. channel data cdf transfer
2. box-box transfer

select the box-box transfer then press the reset button on the dead box to start the file transfer

Any chance we can sticky this thread or the original if found ???

Too late to check the other box to see if its a definate match, but wouldn't mind doing this tomorrow as my other box has the EPG data on and i'd rather do that than download f/w to it from my pc.

Plus others will find it useful.

Cheers

Thumbs up Re: Copy 1 box to another

Hi all.

New to this but felt obliged to say thanks to all who contribute to helping the more dense of the world on here. Would never have got my box back up & running without the advice dished out so freely. It's great to know that a problem is not a problem until all possibilities on here have been explored.
