Default Bad Image?

I'm trying to load a new image onto a Sagem box. When the box is switched on it currently has a Commando image on it but the box just hangs saying "loading kernel". Can't access menu with remote. I'm assuming the image is screwed and so would like to put a new one on. The trouble is I have no way of accessing the menu to find out IP address. I obviously can't upload the image if I can't connect to the box.

I've tried the IFA but it doesn't want to connect either.

Has the box had it?

Your box is probably fine? Is it the 1x or 2x version of the sagem (very important to get this right).

IFA is about your only option.

I strongly recommend that you search how to use IFA, and find out what issues other peolple have had and how they resolved them.

Things to watch

1. You have selected the correct network card in the second drop down menu.
2. You have selected the correct COM port and ticked you are using a serial cable (always use serial cable in my opinion no speed improvement with 2x, but for 1x with serial takes about two minutes and without takes about 15 minutes to flash. Also you get alot more feedback).
3. Do not power on your box until you have kicked off the upgrade process, and unblocked the port (if asked to).

Good luck.

Thanks, didn't realise I was supposed to use rs232 cable as well as the crossover cable.

You can use IFA without the null-modem cable, most prefer to use it.

The advantage of using the nullmodem cable is that the dbox can talk back to IFA as the flashing process is happening, giving the user alot more feedback (warm fuzy feelings 1mb flashed...2mb flashed..etc.) as to what stage the process is at, very usefull if the LCD is buggered!
