Default Hey new here...

Hi, i am new to the world of cable. but not technically illiterate.

i have two cable modems; vm ambit255 (working), and a recently purchased surfboard 5100i.

i have tried to get them both working on the line at the same time with no luck.

the surfboard just will not connect, it keeps cycling through the frequencies. - is this due to the MAC address being stuck to an area?

do i have to change the MAC, do something else? - reason i want to try and get this working is the lack of any speed.... (vm is rubbish - student area + 4 ppl in house)

also for next year in another house (also cable) - will i be able to split the cable as many times as i want? (to have 2x modems + tv box)?

whats the proceedure to flash/uncap these modems, i have read it can be simpler to to this with the surfboard (hence the cheap purchase) than the 255....? - can it be done over ethernet/USB? or will it need to be done via another internal jack?

IF THIS TALK IS INAPPROPRIATE FOR THIS FORUM, PLEASE DISREGARD THOSE QUESTIONS; There are still legit questions in this post.

Thanks for any information,
Ted

The forum is very busy at the moment, please be patient and a member with knowledge of your probem will help.
Have you read the sticky threads in the Cable Modem section as these usually help?
