Red face I have just updated a Max V "clone".....successfully

I have a max v 2008 "clone" (from ebay), and an older max blue 2006 model (from local supplier).

Bolder serial numbers on the box, different chipset, twisted single wires, different card reader, and red paint on the screws inside. There is a guide to clone boxes. I cant post links due to low post count, so Google "eurovox clone" and click images. Click the first image to view guide.

Im 99% certain I have a "cloned" Max V box.

I was told if i updated the firmware, it would die. Well i was resigned to buying a new box anyway, so i thought i would give it a try. I have to say im plesently surprised that it took the update ok.

I have tuned it in, took the update code fine by itself, all channels working, epg working, and also tried turning on/off as a final test. All is well

According to the guide, it had every sign that it was a clone. I almost bought a new box, as i was sure the update would kill it.

For whatever reason, its back working by itself fine. Hopefully it lasts.

I got it from an ebayer with decent feedback, but with a cheeky bastard attitude. I may have just picked the wrong ebay seller.

i did 2 clones and told everyone in this forum, the reply i got was "the code written in the new firmware is not designed to kill the box straight away" hope this helps you.
