Default Receiver not Responding

I am trying to update my Eurovox max V with the latest firmwire version which I have copied to my PC but at the point where I try to download the file to my Eurovox I get a message of " Waiting for a response from the receiver"
I am using a 9pin female to 25pin male null modem cable which i've tried from my laptop and two different Desktops.

Am I using the right cable or do I need update the Eurovox Mav via a USB to 9pin?

Any advice would be mucho appreciated as this is doing me Sweed in, I have updated my keys from BigMAQ and found how to Flash the box thanks to the boffins on this forum but this last bit has me stumped.

Cheers Rebus
