can anybody help me i want to change my com port from 5 to 3 does anyone know how to do this for XP & VISTA would be vey grateful for any help.

Open device manager (right click my computer and select manage, then click on device manager). Go to Ports (COM & LPT), right click on the port you want to change and select properties. Go to the Port Settings Tab and hit the advanced button. At the bottom you can change the port number. Click ok and thats it.

That's for XP, off the top of my head Vista is the same but I don't have a Vista system in front of me to check. You would probably need to be a super admin or have UAC turned off in Vista to change those settings though.
