not heard any bad reports on the software yet but i will give it another couple of weeks before i install it
i did read on another forum that it was a older firmware renamed dont know how true this is

Thanks to everyone on this site I have finally found out what my stb is,
Can anyone help though? got all updates on my laptop n running vista, bought a new usb/serial now when i try to load to stb it says flash update failed! any help will be greatly appreciatted, cheers in anticipation.

Hi Larryoke, all i can think of is that there is no connection between your laptop and the STB. There is somewhere on this site that i have seen that says that sometimes laptops have problems updating boxes, because the data lead does not work sometimes (because it is a USB to Rs 232). I myself have laptops with Vista on them but i chose to go with my old PC because it had a RS 232 port on it and have had no problems with Select to Spew boxes and 2 other kinds, so possibly you need to get a Null Modem Cable and try it from someone else's PC, make sure you select correct com port......hope this helps.......regards
