Hi everyone!
As some of you may already know, I have a Eurovox Max V black box. Like most here, I updated my box with the latest firmware from the BigMaq toolbar. It worked a treat and all seemed to be well until yesterday when I got the usual updating code message. However after an hour or so, the channels came back by themselves, I didn't do anything. Today however it happened again, and I thought I'd check this forum for a solution. After reading about it here, I tried the Menu > Language > 1968 > Enable EMM thing. I also did the Menu > Language > 19681968 thing where I selected the first line of NTL (I live in the Leicester area) and pressed Yellow to set it as the default key. After around 3 minutes of the same message, the channels all came back. For my own curiosity really, does this mean that the new firmware is failing? Or simply, that EMM or the 19681968 things should have been done after updating the firmware, and this was my mistake? I just wonder if these channels are going to disappear on a daily basis despite the new firmware. Also why does the EMM thing disable itself on power disconnect? Look forward to all informed comments. Thanks. Alicia. x P.S. Why do cable companies like NTL (or VM they now are) leave the signal lines active after a customer has cancelled their contract with them? Should they not cut the cables from the outside? Just wondered about this! |

Alicia,
"P.S. Why do cable companies like NTL (or VM they now are) leave the signal lines active after a customer has cancelled their contract with them? Should they not cut the cables from the outside? Just wondered about this!" Im not able to help you with the other, but the reason is, its easier to cut a subscription from a computer miles away than cut the line, wire feed etc. and if i remember they used to cut lines years ago, abd then charge your for a reconnection, |

20rsport, many thanks for your reply. Interesting that even though they 'cut off' the line to the house remotely, that this cut off does not stop the signal flowing through the cable into the house.
Does anyone have an answer to my first question? Thanks. Alicia. x |

The EMM capture is only used for a smart card which you do not need anyway, please correct me if im wrong. The firmware is not failing as it is automatically updating your code instead of you manually inputting the code. Mine took 30 seconds yesterday to update my codes, it seems if you leave it on a certain channel it will update quicker. Mine seems to update quickest on UK Gold but other members say theres is on sky sports. hope this helps
